UFO (1970).
Series Website. (FANTASTIC!)
Wikipedia Entry.
Gerry and Sylvia Anderson's second foray into live action (after the 1968 movie Doppleganger/Journey to the far side of the Sun) features some of the finest retro-futuristic stylings ever to grace the T.V. screen.

The series concerns secret government organisation S.H.A.D.O. (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organisation) and it's efforts to combat mysterious extraterrestrial invaders and ascertain their shadowy motives.

A planned second season set entirely on the moon was never made, although concept work from it contributed to the creation of Space:1999.

The Anderson's productions exhibit the unfortunate quality of increased sophistication resulting in decreased audience enjoyment.

From Captain Scarlet onwards, the production values get ever glossier and the shows get ever duller.

Essentially, the smaller the character's heads, the drier the series.

Worth watching though, if only for the completely yummy Gabrielle (sister of Nick) Drake as Lt. Gay Ellis.
Enjoy the opening title sequence and theme tune in all it's Barry Gray-goodness.

Will, I'm drawing that girl on the phone as I'm typing this! Thanks for all the Eye Candy.
Great stuff! Didn't know of this show. It was probably never aired in Sweden. Looks really cool! Thanks and Merry Christmas from http://martinklasch.blogspot.com/
Great. You've now made me go up into my loft to dig out these old episodes. To no avail of course...
Time to find them on DVD me thinks.
Thanks for making me spend more money on things my wife will moan at me about :)
An interesting sub-text of UFO is that it is the last co-production of Gerry and Sylvia Anderson; they were going through a somewhat acrimonious divorce at the time and as a result many of the episodes had plots or sub-plots about the disintegration of relationships.
Very cool post !!
