More IPCRESS File.
My previous entry about the IPCRESS File mentioned how the images I'd found didn't do justice to the movie's sense of composition and use of widescreen.
Luckily World of Kane viewer Daniele Filippin has come to the rescue with these excellent screengrabs!

IPCRESS File author Len Deighton was a successful illustrator and cookery writer before his career as an even more successful novelist and historian. That's Deighton's cookery column pinned to the wall, that's Deighton's hand cracking two eggs one-handedly during the cookery/seduction scene.
More IPCRESS File trivia here.

Palmer's first meeting with new boss Major Dalby. Dalby reads Palmer his 'B107', "...Insubordinate... insolent... a trickster... perhaps with criminal tendencies."

"Yes, that's a pretty fair appraisal... sir."

"If you give me any trouble, Palmer! I shall BITE YOU, Palmer! And I'll bite you so hard that you'll go right back to wherever it was Ross found you!"

Palmer is issued with a new firearm.

Enemy agent 'Housemartin' is first espied through the glass dial of a parking meter.

Palmer makes first contact with enemy agent Erik Ashley Grantby, codenamed 'Bluejay'.

A third party observes them.

'Blue Jay' and 'Housemartin' make their getaway...

...but Palmer sees them.

Fight!

'Housemartin' runs for it!

The luscious Courtney invites herself round to Palmer's flat. She also works for Dalby, or does she?

Courtney: "Do you always wear your glasses?" Palmer: "Yes - except in bed."

To everyone who bought 'IPCRESS File' on my recommendation, bad luck, they've just brought out a Special Edition.

I saw this film just the other day on TV, but the copy I saw had much poorer quality than the one you have used for the shots. And, yes, the soundtrack of this film is remarkable.

A superb film which I have enjoyed watching many times. There's something about this film which really intrigues me. I like you article about it. Many thanks. By the way, the link for the Special Edition DVD is now defunct. Try Amazon instead.
Best regards, and I might pop into GOSH one day and say hello.

Incidentally, a sentence above should read, 'I like your article about it'. Apologies for missing out the letter 'r'.
